That is what this book will have you questioning by the time you're done. The overall tone of this book is dark, intriguing, and well written. I figured out who the big bad was pulling the strings early. The mystery for me was why and the author answered by a few POV chapters that puts us in the mind of the killers. Throughout this book I was actually rooting for Ackerman...LOL The overall message I think Ethan is trying to get a cross is that we live in a world of grey and nothing is as it seems. This is evident as we learn more about the Anarchist and what drives him to commit his murderous rituals. For those who have read Frankenstein, who do you blame the creation or the creator? One person who does question this is Marcus and those around him can't seem to understand his recent troubles. The only one who seems to understand his internal turmoil is Ackerman because his struggle is of a similar nature. Marcus starts to see there is no clear role of villain and hero. I recommend reading the other two books in order to fully understand two of the main characters (Marcus & Ackerman) and the Sheppard Organization.
