This review may contain spoilers.Let’s start with a story of parallel realities, magick, love, nature and more. Bring in a villain that has a dedicated purpose that is convincing. Add in a head wizard who forgets who he is, yet still seems to find the drive to save his world. Add in two curious kids who both are instrumental in finding a solution to what ails a failing kingdom, or should I say queendom. Then we get to Rufus. Brave, intelligent, funny, brave at times, and afraid at others. Two-and-a-half feet tall, but having the heart that a good protector should have. He is cute, but will fight you if needed. He is by far my favorite of the characters, making this my favorite movie.Since I believe in magick, it was a somewhat believable story. Though I see magick a little different in that I don’t use wands myself, and am not quite as powerful as they are. When Abbott calls upon the power to slay the dragon, that was wicked cool seeing the ground floating up and waves rippling outwards. I can’t quite do that, but I can pseudo-manifest the philosopher’s stone and feel it transforming my energy field.I thought Rufus to be brave, climbing that tree, reluctantly. When he said that place felt like home, it made me more fond to get a chance to experience what their world is like. It did seem a little gloomy, but it did entice me.Scott and Emily were also brave when they had to be. I liked the lesson that it’s ok to be scared. When talking to Rufus, I liked how Emily and Abbott both said “I love you”, which is also used in other films that Boiling Point helped make such as A.R.I. and Jurassic Pet. All of these were touching films. I especially love when Rufus throws attitude.I did get carried away a bit in how much I appreciated Rufus and made a fan video of him, the first one I have ever seen made. I do find it interesting there is also no fan art of him that I can find, or any of the other characters I can find.In short, a fantastic movie. I hope my brief review helps you to make a decision. Ryan Bellgardt and the other writers are fantastic. I hope one day to be as good a writer as them.
