"Very rarely do I read a book so unique and gripping it makes me wish I had thought of it! Narrator is that book—a psychological thriller in which author Landon Beach crafts his love letter to storytellers in a novel so compelling you will be thinking about it, gifting it, and discussing it for years to come. In both its written and audio formats, Narrator is a masterpiece."—Jack Carr, former Navy SEAL Sniper and the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the James Reece Terminal List seriesBy the time playwright and actor Shawn Frost had won 2 Tony Awards by his late twenties, he was seen as a theater prodigy—a meteoric rise that the performing arts community had not witnessed in almost a hundred years. His work? Shakespearean in scope, character, and popularity—boundless and beautiful. His own character? Flawed. And in a place like New York City, where failings get magnified, Shawn Frost finds that, even from the heights of artistic sublimity, no one is insulated from the demons that have caused the best of entertainers to fall from grace. After surviving an accident that almost costs him his life, Shawn leaves NYC and the theater for the quiet, picturesque Pacific cliffs of Carmel-by-the-Sea and starts a new life as an audiobook narrator. As he rises through the ranks, narrating bestseller after bestseller, Shawn Frost once again flirts with artistic immortality.But. As his limitless skills emerge in the exploding arena of voice arts, so do his flaws. Then, he experiences every audiobook narrator’s worst fear: He is kidnapped by two obsessed fans, determined to make Shawn perform their novel . . . Or was he?Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind psychological thriller from #1 Bestselling Author Landon Beach.

This is a spoiler free review. Unfortunately, to keep it that way, I am unable to comment on some of the ways that Landon Beach deviates from his normal writing style that really stood out to me. You will just have to read all of his books--which I recommend--and discover for yourself. It has been many years since I read a book that I couldn't put down. When I first started "Narrator" by Landon Beach, I carried it everywhere with me. I would read a couple pages even if I only had five minutes to spare. When I wasn't reading, I was deliberating plot points in my head in an attempt to predict what would happen next. Beach delivers an extremely engaging book with very deep characters and surprises galore, so if you love intricately woven thrillers, this is a must read book of the summer!"Narrator" starts in a similar vein to Stephen King's "Misery" where MC Shawn Frost, a top talent audio book narrator, finds himself kidnapped. Unlike "Misery", where most of the story focuses on the captivity, pathos of the captor, and escape, "Narrator" resolves the kidnapping conflict in the first quarter of the book and turns it's focus on how the MC copes with the trauma. We begin to learn a lot more about the history of Frost and how, despite his current career success, damaged he is. Beach has written fabulously about hardship, addiction, and loss in his other books, but "Narrator" takes the reader to a new level. I could vividly feel Frost's pain and could empathize with his self doubt as he struggled through recovery. Beach's ability to pack emotion into a story is second to none and it will be hard to walk away from this book without an emotional impact. The one plot element that I advise readers to keep an eye on is the story within a story within a story. That is all I will say about it. You will know what I am referring to once you get to the appropriate part of the story. This plot element is extremely well done and I am left wondering if all the correlations that I made between fact and fiction were intended by Beach. This element is just one of many examples of Beach's master storytelling ability.
