There are few things I like more than a really good British spy novel, and Henry Porter fits the bill perfectly. The migrant crisis was a made in heaven subject for sensational news business, but here we are allowed to grapple with the essence of this predicament. Mr. Porter feels compassion for innocent people uprooted from their homes and lives, but, in the same time leaves room for understanding the fear of people in Western Europe that see their lands overwhelmed with migrants. One shouldn't exclude the other. The complexity of this situation still reverberates across the globe. Strong and thoughtful first novel in this trilogy.
